Connecting your child's hospital care

Let us take the anxiety out of your child's hospital stay. At Tufts Medicine, our pediatric hospitalists see each child every day while they are in the hospital and are available 24/7 to quickly:

  • Get answers to your questions or concerns
  • Review your child’s test results
  • Connect with pharmacists, physical therapists, social workers and registered dietitians
  • Organize meetings with you and your or your child's care team
  • Coordinate subspecialty care, if needed

We also work with your child's care team and their primary doctor to keep them updated with all the vital information about your child's care and to help provide a smooth transition when it’s time for your youngster to go home.

For children with complex or critical health needs, Tufts Medicine collaborates with Boston Children's Hospital when a child needs to stay overnight in the hospital. And for those outside of Boston, we provide care at Lawrence General Hospital, Lowell General Hospital, MetroWest Medical Center and Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital.

FAQs

What is a hospitalist?

Hospitalists are medical specialists who, rather than specializing in a particular area of the body, focus on giving you or your child the best possible care during a hospital stay.

Most physicians spend only a fraction of their time in a hospital setting, but that's where we spend all our time. We have all the resources available right at our fingertips. Our hospitalists are board-certified pediatricians who focus on your child's care while they're at the hospital. You may also see us supporting the emergency department and working with newborns on their birthday. That means we can quickly connect you with specialists, support groups and other services to help you or your child feel better faster.
